US electronics manufacturer and electronics retailer General Electric has announced it will sell off all of its electronic parts, including the devices that control electric vehicles and other electronic systems.

The move comes just weeks after GE announced it would sell off a significant chunk of its US workforce to help pay for the US government’s purchase of a fleet of autonomous vehicles.US President Donald Trump has also said he would look to make the US more competitive by making it more difficult for companies to sell to other countries.

The announcement on Tuesday comes at a time when China is looking to make inroads in the electronics market, particularly in the electronic components industry.

In October, China’s state-run Global Electronics Industry Corporation announced plans to sell off almost all of the electronic parts of a manufacturing plant in Xi’an, capital of the Shanxi province, in an effort to lower the cost of parts.
